Targeted Retention Incentive Payments for FE Teachers

GOV.UK has launched a Targeted Retention Incentive Payment scheme for teachers in specific subject areas, offering financial support to help retain skilled professionals in these key sectors.

The incentive is available for FE teachers teaching in the following critical subject areas:

  • Building and Construction

  • Chemistry

  • Computing (including Digital and ICT)

  • Early Years

  • Engineering and Manufacturing (including Transport Engineering and Electronics)

  • Maths

  • Physics

Key Details:

  • Eligibility: To apply, you must be in the first five years of your FE teaching career. This means that you should have started your first teaching role at an FE provider in England within the last five years.

  • Application Deadline: You can submit your claim for the 2024 to 2025 academic year until 31 March 2025.

  • Not Eligible: If you began your FE teaching career prior to the 2019 to 2020 academic year, you will unfortunately not be eligible for this payment.

This targeted retention incentive aims to ensure that these high-demand subject areas continue to have access to dedicated, qualified teaching staff. For teachers in the early stages of their careers, this scheme offers a meaningful financial boost, enabling them to remain in the profession and continue to deliver quality education in areas that are vital to the UK's future workforce.

We encourage all eligible FE teachers to check the full list of courses and apply by 31 March 2025 to take advantage of this opportunity.

For more information on eligibility and how to apply, visit the GOV.UK website or contact our team at Polaris Personnel. We're here to help you make the most of this fantastic opportunity.
